In my quest to do a painting from every state, I have had the good fortune to get to visit with 46 of the lower 48, somehow missing Nevada and Nebraska. Often not getting the abundance of photo reference I wanted, I was still able to capture something of each state I visited. This old Oklahoma stone homestead was on a back road somewhere between Tulsa and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Of course, it caught my eye because it was a classic example of the American homestead, my favorite painting subject. It worked out perfectly, and a challenge of painting with Seagram’s Extra Dry Gin.
